Measurement on Diffusion Coefficients and Isotope Fractionation Factors by a Through-Diffusion Experiment

چکیده
For radioactive waste disposal, it is important that local groundwater flow slow as the main transport medium for nuclides in geological formations. When very slow, diffusion dominant mechanism (diffusion-dominant domain). Key pieces of evidence indicating a diffusion-dominant domain are separation components and fractionation isotopes by diffusion. To prove this, necessary to investigate different coefficients each component related stable isotope factors. Thus, this study, through-diffusion effective-porosity experiments were conducted on selected artificial materials natural rocks. We also undertook measurements relating factors Cl Br samples. rock samples, water (HDO H218O) three four times higher than those monovalent anions (Cl?, Br- NO3?), factor 37Cl (1.0017–1.0021) was slightly free water. Stable isotope fractionation by thermal diffusion through partially molten wet and dry silicate rocks
Water plays a fundamental role in affecting geochemical transport and physical properties of magmas. Here we show the previously undocumented behavior of water within partially molten silicate resting in a temperature gradient, producing O, Li and H isotope redistribution by thermal diffusion leading to enrichment of light isotopes at the hot end of the gradient. After weeks to months, fully mo...
متن کاملA diffusion-reaction model of carbon isotope fractionation in foraminifera
Fossil foraminiferal shells are utilized in paleoceanography to extract information about environmental conditions of the past ocean. Based on several assumptions, the ratio of C and C preserved in their shells is used to reconstruct, for example, the paleoproductivity or the oceanic pCO . Metabolism of the living organism and the sea water chemistry, 2 however, can influence the incorporation ...

Background: The compositions of Ferrous sulphate, Agarose and Xylenol orange dye (FAX) and Ferrous sulphate, Gelatin and Xylenol orange dye (FGX) in solution of distilled water and sulphuric acid are two tissue-equivalent gel dosimeters. Ionizing radiation causes oxidation of Fe2+ ion to Fe3+ ions which diffuse through the gel matrix and blur the image of absorbed dose over a period of hours af...
متن کاملThe 2D-J-DOSY experiment: resolving diffusion coefficients in mixtures.
Many diffusion-ordered spectroscopy (DOSY) NMR techniques have recently been developed to aid in the deconvolution of complex mixtures. Spectroscopic separation based on chemical and physical properties facilitates the identification of mixture components while eliminating time-consuming separation steps and preserving the chemical environment. One way to improve resolution in such experiments ...
